Philatelic Society

Meetings are held in the Art Society Rooms, 17 Roseangle, Dundee at 7.30 pm twice monthly on a Thursday from September to April. Every year the syllabus includes a wide ranging selection of all aspects of philately designed to reflect the many and varied interests of our members from beginners to specialists. Throughout the year guest speakers are invited to give a display from their collecting interests. Such speakers are drawn from across the United Kingdom although most are notable Scottish philatelists. We also exchange regular visits with other Societies, both in the local area and further a field, including an annual joint meeting with the Tayside Postcard Club.

Our programme includes at least three members’ nights at which nearly all members display a few sheets on a chosen theme – or something reasonably adjacent to it! Great ingenuity in twisting the theme to suit members’ collections is often a major feature of these evenings and good fun is always had by all

As a member of ASPS and ABPS , one of the Society’s aims is "the promotion and encouragement of all activities of philatelic interest" and every member benefits from the information and advice, help and encouragement freely given by their fellow members. The Society holds an annual competition and, in recent years, a one-sheet competition has been a popular aspect of our Christmas meeting. Members are helped in the "study of all philatelic matters" by being able to borrow freely from our excellent philatelic library. Most members belong to the exchange packet – a box containing books of stamps etc. for purchase –, which is circulated around the members. Members can also offer material for sale through the packet

Anyone interested in joining our Society is invited to come along to any of our meetings and join in the fun. If you do join, the annual subscription is only £5 (free for under 18's)
